Geophysik IX is a facet shape stretched over almost the entire phalanx of the finger. However, the part towards the front seems to have developed much more than the part towards the hand. This asymmetry introduces the idea of growth and therefore of the passage of time, like a seed that develops more or less according to the conditions necessary for its growth. In reality, this asymmetry is intended by the jewel itself, due to its position on the finger. Indeed, if the part towards the hand were as developed as the part towards the finger, the jewel would interfere with the natural movement of the hand’s joints. Thus, the intention to suggest crossance over time in the design of the jewel is matched by the need for form in use. The jewel features a faceted metal veil mixed at the bottom with a ring wide enough to hold the whole piece comfortably on the finger. Despite the jewel’s size, its weight remains very reasonable due to the thinness of the veil. The faceted surface of the polished stainless steel constantly plays with the light, like a discotheque disco ball.
