»On peut à présent remettre le flag start sur vrai« is a little video game played directly in a web browser. It was inspired by a chapter in Gilles Deleuze and Félix Guattari’s Mille Plateaux. So Françoise Valéry and I got down to it. At first we were a bit scared.
The project of the Cequisecret magazine is to create several writer/plastician pairs and to assign each of them a chapter from Gilles Deleuze and Félix Guattari’s book « Mille plateaux ». So that they can do something with it. And what’s that ? This text isn’t nothing. It’s not just a bit of philosophy.
And as always in this kind of adventure, the anguish is beforehand, the pleasure during and the work afterwards.
All you had to do was take the time to read. As always, the spring was in the text. All you had to do was put your finger on it, and it clicked.
Françoise told me about this old encyclopaedic plate showing the different shapes of eggs in nature. She also had the idea for this conversation guide extract where French words are written phonetically for English speakers, so that on the recordings she pronounces French with a strange accent.

Everything was there, fragile and obvious between the eggs and the text.
I did as Françoise had done, I opened up the field, raked it wide and with pleasure.
At the same time, I didn’t look far.
Precisely, I looked in the palm of my hand.
On my mobile.
I extracted this photo-sphere I’d made this summer at Rome’s Museo Massimo.
We’d just got our hands on a universe.
We were going to populate it with eggs and sounds. We were going to saturate an astonishing space with eggs and sounds. We then decided that this populating would be done in several phases. We called them waves, in reference to the text of « A Thousand Plateaus ». And as cequisecret is a digital magazine, we were going to be able to articulate our ingredients using the computing resources of your machines.
Because we wanted your machines to do the work.
In fact, we wanted you to set something in motion.
So when you click, you trigger a frenetic process of calculation, mirrored on the screen.
We wanted your microprocessor to be striated by waves of calculations.
And in doing so, you’re doing something that every young person under the age of 30 has been doing since they were very young, but which, perhaps, you haven’t, because you were born in the 60s and 70s or earlier.
A simple thing : you’re playing a video game.
