Embranchement VII is a spiral-shaped metal form whose smooth skin reveals geometric patterns that seem to come from the sculpture’s innards. Its front ends in a long horn that evokes a dolphin’s beak. Two branches are inserted into two holes in the sculpture’s body, forming a right angle. In this way, the sculpture balances on the metal beak and the ends of the two branches. Here, the sculpture draws its inspiration from the aquatic world rather than the world of bones, as is often the case with the « Embranchements » series. Here, the branches seem to collaborate with the metal part, allowing it to escape contact with the earth. The branches I use are gleaned from walks in the forest. The species of wood and their shape therefore vary from one piece to another.
This sculpture is an original work produced in a limited edition of 8 pieces (What is an original work ?). It is shown here, as is often the case, in white bronze, but it can also be made in bronze, silver, resin, or even gold !
