This sculpture, composed of four spheres, evokes a calabash as much as it does lemons or golf balls. At first glance, it is therefore difficult to classify it into a single known category. Its overall and specific structure revolves around the concept of pairs. Indeed, it is organized into two sets of two spheres—one larger than the other—connected by a protrusion. The large and small spheres each accommodate a small branch through an opening in their surface. They seem to work together to hold this branch along the axis they form. Since the pair of spheres is offset from one another, the branches form a large V in space. The sculpture’s stance on the ground depends heavily on the shape and weight of each branch.
Thus, the sculpture—produced in a series of eight pieces (what is an original work ?) per material (it can be made of silver, bronze, white bronze, colored resin, stainless steel, or even gold)—takes on a unique character. I particularly enjoy placing them in my home in unusual settings, such as suspended from a book on the bookshelf by a branch or mounted on a light fixture. The unusual shape of the *Embranchements* and the delicacy that the combination with small branches lends them shift the way we perceive our daily surroundings at home. They then become a sort of companion that infuses the living space with poetry—true poetic allies.
