"Seed II"
Folded-paper sculpture.
Seed II is a variation on the notion of the germ. Angular with highly accentuated depressions, it is nevertheless inscribed in a full, round form. The sculpture’s paper is saturated with a transparent Crystal epoxy resin to stiffen and waterproof the paper .As a result, the sculpture is light and translucent. The passage of light through the surface of the paper underlines the fragile nature of this cocoon. As a result, we hesitate to define Seed II as the solid, rigid outer shell that protects the seed inside the membrane, or as the seed itself.
