Folded
Sculptures in metal (bronze, Cor-ten steel) or paper obtained by folding and/or 3D modelling
I folded a lot of papers when I stopped being a bronze sculptor. A need to lighten up, no doubt. However, I sometimes convert paper into bronze. In this case, I use wax/lost paper instead of the traditional lost wax. I use thin paper because it deforms and inflections linked to the tensions of folding appear and leave a trace. These stigmata of the action of folding paper tell the story of the formation of volume in the manner of a tree’s bark, which cracks and deforms as it grows.
