"Minotaur"
Minotaur in bronze modeled, folded and cast in bronze. 1.8 m high.
This sculpture was commissioned. The figure of the minotaur is very much associated with the notion of power and virility. So I decided to approach the subject in reverse : the form of the minotaur is built around the absent male parts. Similarly, the surface is broken down into geometric planes derived from 3D modeling, evoking Goldorak rather than the minotaur of the labyrinth. Made from thin folded paper, the variations in the paper give subtle shades of light/dark to its skin. In this way, the minotaur, born of geometric concepts with perfect planes, is covered with a sensitive skin.
