"Seed"
Folded paper sculpture.
The sculpture Seed is reminiscent of a gourd, a dried, hollow seed with a very thin, translucent skin. It features a surface depression, a sort of crack in the side, which concentrates the shadows. Made of paper saturated with transparent epoxy resin, it’s very light, and it shows.The idea for me was to make a visually very light piece that evokes a cocoon as much as an insect mutation slag, in the image of exuviae (skin abandoned by arthropods and certain ophidians during their moult, which becomes rigid after being rejected).It was also produced in bronze as a one-off piece.
