"Paper bird I et II"

Paper bird I and II are two variations on the folding of a small sheet of paper.

Paper bird I and II evoke the shape and position of a bird. One is folded, the other unfolded. One is symmetrically folded, the other is not. They are very simple little sculptures in paper cast in bronze.
With this series, I wanted to use paper to evoke the lightness of birds. The transition from very taut surfaces at the folds to much looser, concave or convex ones between two folds supports this desire for lightness. So, like the feathers whose rigid central edge would be the fold and the feathers the looser, supple part of the paper, Paper bird I and II are bronze birds.
